Five things about supermarket beef.

1. Supermarket beef meat is from Alabama or Ziare or any where else on the planet. They don't have to tell you where the meat is from! (see COOL labeling)

2. It could be a nice healthy steer or a 12 year-old mad cow ... you don't know.

3. One package of hamburger could contain meat of 50 cows ... no exageration! Hamburger is made in huge vats by the ton! (see Organic Hamburger)

4. The cow was killed at a meat factory, which kills and chops cows into meat parts at a rate of 1 cow per 43 sec. (see slaughter house)

5. The meat is likely covered with POOP! So they irradiate it!

A slaughterhouse that has been accused of mistreating cows agreed Sunday to recall 143 million pounds of beef in what federal officials called the largest beef recall in U.S. history.

The recall of more than 5 million pounds of beef suspected of E. coli contamination the Kroger Co. expanded its voluntary recall of some ground beef products to its stores in more than 20 states, including Texas, saying the meat may be contaminated with E. coli.

Omaha-based Nebraska Beef Ltd. launched a recall Monday, about a month after consumers in Michigan and Ohio became ill after eating ground beef purchased at Kroger grocery stores. The meat was traced back to the Nebraska meat processor, which initially recalled about 531,707 pounds of beef. The recall was expanded to more than 5 million pounds on Thursday.
